Monday, April 7th thru Friday April 11th

Activities include:

Riding
Swimming
Grooming
Bathing
Kids can pick favorite activities from other days at camp

Children need to bring: a sack lunch, at least 2qt. thermos of water, change of clothes, bathing suit, towel, shoes that can get wet, and sun screen. Don't forget your cameras, sliced apples or carrots will also be fun!

9:30 - 2:30 - $50.00 (per day) / $225.00 (per week, M-F)

7:30 - 5:30 - $60.00 (per day) / $275.00 (per week, M-F)

Want to have some country FUN this summer? Meet new friends (some four legged ones too) while sunny days are spent singing songs on trail rides & hay rides then jumpin’ in the pool for a swim? How about some long lazy days hanging out with 70 or so beautiful horses, washing & brushing them, braiding flowers in their manes & playing lots of games? We sure hope you’ll join us for some memories & country fun with horses & friends!

2008 SUMMER SCHEDULE

SUMMER SPLASH I JUNE 9 - 13
Would you like to wash lots of horses, groom them till they shine & sing songs while we ride on 600 fenced acres of trails? How about after a sunny day of trail riding, a splash in the pool, or a giant 15’ x 50’ slip n’ slide? Also, sign up by Wed. for Thurs. pool party & dinner cookout, hours extended till 6:00 pm, $15 extra or $5 for those already on extended care.

FRONTIER DAYS! JUNE 16 - 20
Trail rides, hayrides w/ lunch on the ole’ trail, farrier demos, horse relays, learn to tie horses, parts of a saddle & bridle, tack cleaning, etc. Also, sign by Wednesday for Thursday's water melon seed spittin’ contest, cookout w/hayride & songs, hours extended till 6:00 pm. $15 extra, $5 for those already on extended care.

MIX N’ MATCH I JUNE 23 - 27
As requested, a little of everything! Mon. & Tues. trail riding, Wednesday games on horseback, Thursday barrel racing, Friday horse decorating. Plus, we’ll add in the pool, hayrides, a giant game of color tag, grooming & washing horses!

HORSE COLOR TAG JUNE 30 -JULY 4
Celebrate 4th of July with us! Divide into teams of red, white & blue, then proceed with an entire week of games on foot & horseback! Scavenger hunts, saddle/bridle relays, capture the halter, etc. Even have a chance to paint your horse patriotic. Gift certificates for free trail rides for our fun-hearted competitors! Bring cameras; we’ll try for some good pictures!

GAMES/BARREL RACING I JULY 7 – 11
Beginners ride at a walk/jog, advanced at a lope/hand gallop. We’ll learn games such as Clover, Cones, Potato, Clothes Race, Ride & Lead, Hairpin, Spoon & Egg, musical feed buckets, etc. Also, sign up Monday for Thursday hayride, dinner cookout & watch their counselors compete in a barrel show, and give some fun Barrel racing demonstrations. $15 extra, or $5 for those already on extended care, hours extended Thursday until 6:00pm

GAMES/BARREL RACING II JULY 14 - 18
This week is open to all riders (see description above, games vary) however, only those who had fun in Games/B.R. I will compete in a Barrel Show! Those showing will practice with this week’s riders & compete for Trophies & Ribbons!

SUMMER SPLASH II JULY 21 - 25
All the fun as Summer Splash I (see above)...riding, grooming, singing, swimming, slip n’slide, pool party etc. Come on back!

SHOW TIME! JULY 28 - AUG 1
All levels of horse lovers practice daily for a Horse Show! English Equitation, Western Pleasure, Trail class & a Costume Class (horses decorated too). We’ll learn the parts of a horse, grooming & show braiding. Ribbons for everyone, cameras welcome.

NEW! DRILL TEAM AUG 4 - 8
All levels come join us for a unique opportunity to learn dance formations on horseback! Your horses will be paired up by size, color, stride & you'll learn how to maneuver single file, circles, two-by two's, figure eights etc. We'll also try some boot scootin' dance routines around the barn! Grooming, Bridle relay, Country "Freeze" Dances etc. come join the fun!

MIX N’ MATCH II AUGUST 11 - 15
All the fun as Mix N’Match I (see above)...trail rides, games on horseback, barrel racing, horse decorating, pool, hayrides, etc.

ANYTHING GOES! AUGUST 18 - 19
Calling all horse lovers! Two last carefree summer days of singing songs while we ride the trails. You name it, we'll try to create it! Plus an end of summer pool party with a hayride & songs with cookout. Hours extended until 6:00 pm on Mon.

2008 GENERAL INFORMATION

Please keep this for your reference during the week(s) your child is attending camp. 2008 Free camp T-shirt for early sign up by April 15th. Additional T-shirts available at $10.00 each (limited supply)

Wandering Trails offers Boarding, Lessons, Drill Club, Fun Shows, Trail Rides, after School Pickup as well as Winter & Spring Break Camps & Day Camps year round. Also, for the child who wants to own, and the parent who doesn’t, discounted year ‘round horse leasing! Includes free monthly trail rides, 1 month free lease and a place to be on days off and weekends. Call us for details.

Camp hours are from 9:30–2:30 and is $250 per week. All weeks are for ages 5 to 15(ish) & riders are grouped accordingly. Extended care offered during 7:30-9:30 am and/or 2:30-5:30 pm for an additional $75 per week, space permitting & must be arranged prior to the start of the week of camp. Also, those signing up for three weeks or more pick their horse for camp!

You may choose the week(s) you’d like. The first wk chosen must be paid in full in advance plus a $75 deposit for each additional week reserved or you may pay in full. Remaining balances are due one week prior to your child’s camp week, on the preceding Mon. Riding may be withheld or deposits forfeited if remaining balances are not received on time. There are no refunds.

There is a one time $35 registration fee per year. Your initial check must include payment for registration fee, 1st wk choice & deposits on any additional wks & T-shirt(s). Please mail your Reg. form & all payments to the address below or place in the locked box at the front of the barn. The stables also offers trail rides at $30 per hour & lessons at $40 per hour if you'd like to arrange additional riding prior to camp to better prepare your child before riding in a group setting. By appointment only, space permitting.

Campers need a hearty lunch & a 2qt.Thermos of water, there are drinks & snacks for sale. They must bring a bathing suit, towel, sunscreen (Bullfrog gel recommended) change of clothes & sneakers that can get wet & perhaps a 2nd change of clothes in case of inclement weather. We plan pool & water activities daily, all must participate to keep cool, hydrated & smiling!

Camp is held rain or shine. We have barn activities such as videos, lectures, educational horse games & demonstrations for foul weather days. We may also just curl up in the hay, tell some fun jokes, have a bubble gum blowing contest or order Pizza!

The weekly schedule may need to be altered & a previously scheduled activity may be replaced with a field trip to a Tack shop, Vet’s office, Movie, Wild Life center, etc. In such cases location of the field trip will be posted on the chalkboard in the barn breezeway. After 9:45 am, we may not be at the barn & cannot be responsible if your child misses camp due to a late arrival.

Please park outside of the gate on either side of the paved road. Please Do Not drive to the barn unless it is lightening or raining heavily at pickup time & therefore you may drive to barn with caution. This is strictly enforced for safety of children & horses.

Please Do Not wander around the barn or feed any horse as this creates a risk to you, your child & our horses. During camp we will offer time for feeding & petting every ones favorite horses. Your child may bring a camera, carrots & sliced apples.

Your questions, comments & concerns are important to us; however, we cannot address them if you stop us at random. All our attention must remain focused on camp running safely & smoothly. Please call & leave a message & we'll return your call at a time when we are not taking time away from all the children. Please do not expect us to “bend” this rule just for you.
